Beacon of Light is Sunderland’s most innovative sports and education facility and the first of its kind in the UK. Facilities include sports halls, football pitches, flexible informal learning spaces, education suites and a ‘players lounge’, health and wellness centres.
The 18 meters high (no intermediary break) façade realized with arcoPlus 626 polycarbonate connectable system maximize the natural lighting of the football ground on the upper level and create nocturnal ambiances.

The work of Poly-Pac was praised by the contractor Tolent Construction. Gavin Snowdon, Senior Design Manager, said :
''Tolent Construction feel quite fortunate to have the opportunity of working with Poly-Pac on the Beacon of Light project on what was a crucial element of the building's key features. After giving due consideration to other manufacturer's products, we felt that Poly-Pac offered the best solution to our needs from both an architectural and commercial perspective. Throughout the project, Poly-Pac were exceptional in providing the right technical solutions to our requirements, while also achieving the tight programme and dealing with the installation constraints that we had on site. The accolades that the Beacon of Light has received to date owes a lot to Poly-Pac and their site team and we would not hesitate to work with them again''
